The Shell app uses your phone's microphone to listen to your baby's heartbeat, there's no doppler technology. You can even record the heartbeat and share it with your loved ones. It is recommended you place the phone on airplane mode as a precaution when using it, but Bellabeat assures that it's safe. They also have an add-on, The Shell which amplifies the listening of your phone's microphone, and makes a better overall experience. The app is free, but it only available for iOS, and it's free! It's compatible with iPhone models 5S, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 and 7 Plus.
