  • Geek WishList: Samsung Galaxy camera

Photo credit Samsung.com I have been on the search for a new camera for a few years now, as the Polaroid digital camera I have is getting old. Recently I came across the Samsung Galaxy camera, and it has been added to my Geek wish list. Now I am not crossing over to the Android tablet or phone family, but the specs on the camera are great! check them out below: Now of course the Samsung Galaxy camera is running off of the Android OS, but let's focus on the actual camera aspects first. It has a 23mm wide-angle lens that gives you a 21x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. There are preset settings for taking pictures or you can manually adjust them. And the camera takes voice commands (via Samsung S Voice™) There is also a photo wizard that allows for editing of the photos on the camera! And the Video editor allows you to delete, rearrange scenes! Of course to be able to do all of this you would need a nice LCD screen, which it has, the screen is 4.8". It's wi-fi capable and has models that are sold through the wireless carriers with LTE capabilities, which means you can share on the go! I think for the average user Wi-Fi is sufficient. The Wi-Fi models are $449.99. The camera comes in black and white. Check them out here: Samsung Galaxy Camera

  • Intel announces new Smart Bowl at CES 2014

There have been plenty of next tech devices announced at CES 2014, but the one that seems to be on the tip of everyone's tongue is the Intel Smart Bowl. What makes it smart? Why the ability to charge your devices. Take this scenario, you come home, and you toss your keys, your smartphone (well not literally toss, those things are expensive), your Bluetooth headset or earphones and proceed to go about your household activities, then when you go back to use it, it's on blinking battery life or none at all. With this device you simply toss the devices in and it charges them. It's that simple. Unfortunately, it is too smart, so smart that of course it is ahead of most devices out there. Intel also said that it will currently only work with the new Intel Jarvis headset (also announced at CES 2014, that's it in the bowl). There have been no announcements made as to the availability or pricing as of yet. Make sure you check back often for updates, sign up for the newsletter and check on Facebook for updates! ~ChicDivaGeek

  • A new purpose for LinkedIn

screenshot: ChicDivaGeek Most business professionals are familiar with the professional network site LinkedIn. Well they have expanded that platform to make it easier for those who want to take part in volunteer efforts, or organizations that are looking for volunteers. LinkedIn is partnering with Taproot Foundation, BoardSource, VolunteerMatch, and Catchafire to build the listings that it will have. When you think about it, not all work that one does is paid work and often times it is difficult to locate reputable volunteer opportunities. I think this will be a great way to allow those that already use LinkedIn to lend their talents to other things. If you are already using LinkedIn, you can add badges to your profile that show that you are looking to volunteer, and of course, it does help in the professional sense as well. Check it out here: http://volunteer.linkedin.com/ Also if you're a non-profit looking for volunteers go here: http://nonprofit.linkedin.com/ ~ChicDivaGeek

  • Mink: 3D Printer for Makeup

photo credit: GraceMink.com So by now everyone has heard of 3D printers but this one has a little more glam to it. Meet Mink, the 3D makeup printer! The desktop printer that prints makeup. Mink is the brainchild of Grace Choi. The printer, is a miniature 3D printer that can print anything from powders to lipsticks. You can seemingly make any makeup color you wish. The printer is configured to work with image software already on your PC/Mac and you can either type hex code in for the color, or screenshot the color and send the print job to the printer, and ta-da you've got makeup! Thinking about how much it costs to purchase good makeup i.e MAC, Sephora, or shopping in high end stores for products. This could be a good investment. It is said that it will retail for less than $200. This could seemingly be a really good thing for those interested in being makeup artists or the girly girl with some money to spend and likes makeup. Will you be investing in this? I'll keep you posted on this as more information is released ~ChicDivaGeek

  • Adobe Voice for iPad

There's a new Adobe app for iPad users, and it's called Adobe Voice. This app in essence is a story telling app, it allows for you to create videos/tutorials without having a full production crew, right from your iPad! First off Adobe is known for making some pretty cool software so I was excited to try it off of their brand reputation alone, but let's not forget to mention it's FREE! So you can download it from the AppStore and tinker to your heart's content. The app loads fairly quickly and it has a tutorial, which is really quite good. It made a lot of sense, and helped me through my first video, which I am sharing with you guys in this post. You can add icons, pictures, change the themes (i.e colors) and even music. I think this app is really nifty for those small business owners, sole proprietors out there or people who like to post videos on the go, or just don't have the full scale budget or advanced know-how to do these kinds of things. So here's my first attempt at Adobe Voice, I liked it. Hope you get a chance to try it out, and it's free so why not? Well here's the link to it (embed code isn't acting right) Testing Adobe Voice by ChicDivaGeek Let me know what you think! ~ChicDivaGeek

  • Twitter integrated shopping.....meet Amazon Cart

So it seems the wave of companies to incorporate social media into their businesses, well Amazon has taken it a step further and introduced #AmazonCart. The idea is simple, you (the twitter user) see a tweet reply with the hashtag #AmazonCart and the item is then added to your shopping cart. In order for the hashtag to work, you need to sync your Amazon account with your twitter account. So do you think this is a good thing, or does it just encourage laziness? I would think that if your intent is to shop then you would be on Amazon? Will you be using this? ~ChicDivaGeek
