  • T-Mobile now offering 200MB free mobile internet data for tablets

T-Mobile is now offering 200MB of free mobile internet for tablets! How cool is that? But the part that really should get people is that you can either purchase a new tablet from T-Mobile with no money down and get the free data or you can bring in your own tablet (must be 3G/4G capable, not wifi only) and get the free data. Now 200MB doesn't seem like alot and in this day and age of so many data dependent apps, email and things of that nature, but it's still pretty neat. Of course this is more tailored for those who mainly use their tablet on WiFi and would only use it on the go occasionally. But from a business perspective this gets you to try out T-Mobile's network and see if you like it, and I see people going over, and in those cases they will get more money out of the deal. The only real catch for those people not buying a tablet from T-Mobile, is that you have to pay $10 for the SIM card, but that's a drop in the hat when you think about it. Also the tablets are no money down and the payments are broken up over 24 months.

  • Foodini: The 3-D Food Printer

Photo credit: Natural Machines Facebook Profile By now I think we've all heard of 3-D printers, but one company has combined two of my favorite things, food and technology! Well here's Foodini: 3-D Food printer by Natural Machines. Now of course I am sure the first thing that popped into your head was it really prints food, and to be honest, my mind went straight to the Jetsons when I found out about this too; but the Foodini is more similar to a very high tech kitchen appliance and I mean that in a good way. It won't just print food off your screen but you place your fresh ingredients into the printer (they have capsules inside) and then it prints out the food, not cooked of course. But can your laser printer make a pizza? The machine is still in development and is expected to be out around mid-2014. The cost of such a device, around $1,300. Check out some of their food examples below! Photo credit: Natural Machines Facebook Profile Photo Credit: Natural Machines Facebook Profile The device is currently being developed in Barcelona. I'm no Rachel Ray in the kitchen, so if I can get a gadget that helps me out, then why not? And I'm a mom, so pizza and burgers are always a hit with my kid Natural Machines

  • Lenovo ThinkPad 8 Tablet

Photo Credit: Lenovo The noise from CES 2014 has finally subsided and I have a chance to catch my breath. There was enough new technology there to put any nerd into shock! But one of the things that caught my attention was the newly announced Lenovo ThinkPad 8 tablet. Lenovo was among the many presenters at the conference and they didn't disappoint (more on the other products to come). I often get asked by friends what's a good tablet, and for many they just want one for playing games, running apps, checking email, etc. But I have some friends who are looking for one that will allow for both work and play. After getting to read up on the Lenovo ThinkPad 8, I think I now have another suggestion for them other than the Surface or iPad. This tablet is similar to Microsoft Surface in that it runs Windows 8 and comes with Microsoft Office; this is a HUGE benefit for those that want to be able to work on the go or be able to play a few games just to pass time. This tablet weighs less than 1 lb but it definitely packs a wallop! It touts a beautiful 8.3" display with 1920x1200 pixels and HD IPS display. Not to mention that it has Micro USB 3.0, Micro SD, for storage expansion and transferring of files; and Micro HDMI port (This allows you to connect your tablet to HD displays and monitors for easy presenting) The release date and pricing for the tablet isn't available yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I know! Check out this hands on video courtesy of Tech Radar! Lenovo ThinkPad 8

  • Playstation Now: Streaming video game service from Sony

Sony, the creator of PlayStation, announced the new video game streaming service PlayStation Now at CES 2014. This is following the outstanding sales of the company's latest console release, the PlayStation 4, the system has sold 4.2 million units since it's November 2013 release. PlayStation Now is a video game streaming service from Sony that will allow you to stream video games, more noticeably older video games on almost any platform. The service is subscription based, so think if Spotify and Netflix had a kid, if that makes sense. That is essentially how it works. The service does offer rentals. When the service becomes available it will initially start with streaming PS3 games to PS4, PS3, PlayStation Vita, and the newest line of Sony Bravia TVs. The service is cloud based, and Sony has not announced if it will be bringing PS2 and PS One games to the service, but you never know. The PlayStation now service will eventually be available on mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) but no date has been given. The service is slated for release this summer. There is also no pricing information at this time. • MIT App Inventor

While I was browsing the Internet I came across a blurb about the App Inventor from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). This cloud based software allows for anyone to learn how to develop apps for the Android devices. It walks you step by step through building a few basic applications, and then it also allows for you to branch off when comfortable to develop a little more on your own. You do need a Gmail account or school email that uses the Gmail platform. The App Inventor (now in version 2) works completely in your browser. The program even has an emulator so that you can test your apps if you don't have access to an Android device. It's aimed more at younger students but I think it's a good place to start for alot of people (particularly non-technology people) to dabble and learn more about building and designing apps. Check it out! MIT App Inventor

  • Intel announces new Smart Bowl at CES 2014

There have been plenty of next tech devices announced at CES 2014, but the one that seems to be on the tip of everyone's tongue is the Intel Smart Bowl. What makes it smart? Why the ability to charge your devices. Take this scenario, you come home, and you toss your keys, your smartphone (well not literally toss, those things are expensive), your Bluetooth headset or earphones and proceed to go about your household activities, then when you go back to use it, it's on blinking battery life or none at all. With this device you simply toss the devices in and it charges them. It's that simple. Unfortunately, it is too smart, so smart that of course it is ahead of most devices out there. Intel also said that it will currently only work with the new Intel Jarvis headset (also announced at CES 2014, that's it in the bowl). There have been no announcements made as to the availability or pricing as of yet. Make sure you check back often for updates, sign up for the newsletter and check on Facebook for updates! ~ChicDivaGeek

  • iWork for iCloud Beta now available to

Apple has made iWork Beta available to all users with an iCloud account. If you go to iCloud.com it will prompt you for your Apple ID, once you enter that you're in. You will have access to the iWork applications (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) as well as the Find My iPhone function, notes, reminders and mail. You will have to setup and iCloud email address to use the mail function. You can work on documents and save them here, and there is also an option to download the file. Test it out, Apple originally only had this available to developers, but it's pretty handy.

  • Microsoft unveils the Surface Pro 3 tablet

photo credit: Surface twitter Today Microsoft held a major Surface event in New York. Most anticipated that it would be for the unveiling of a Surface mini, but Microsoft debuted the Surface Pro 3 tablet and it doesn't disappoint. Microsoft continues to improve on the already snazzy tablet with some noteable improvements. First the screen is now larger, the Surface Pro 3 boasts a 12" HD display. They are really aiming to replace your laptop. Now although the screen is larger the Surface itself is still light, weighing in at 800 grams, and is only 9.1 millimeters thick. Not to mention it boasts a full size USB 3.0 port, a micro SD card reader and a Mini Display port. Microsoft has also launched a new docking station for Surface Pro 3 as well as a Surface Ethernet adapter. Let's not forget that this guy comes with 4th Generation Intel processor options and can be customized with up to 8GB of RAM. It also has improved sound as the Dolby speakers are now front facing. The device is set to be available for pre-order tomorrow, with a starting price of $799. I can't wait to go to the Microsoft Store to play with one of these. So will you be purchasing the new Surface Pro 3? This one is on my geek wishlist.
