  • Kingdom Hearts 3D comes out today!!

It has been 10 years since the release of the first Kingdom Hearts and I still get excited when a new one is released. Slight damper that it's only for Nintendo 3DS. But that doesn't make the game any less amazing. Small synopsis: In preparation for an upcoming battle, Sora and Riku have to pass the Mark of Mystery Exam in order to become true Keyblade Masters. You get to play as both characters as they go along their journey. The "Drop" in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is for the way you switch between Sora and Riku's storylines. This entry in the series is paving the way for the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III (I will have that on pre-order). Check out the trailer for what is bound to be one of the best games EVER for the Nintendo 3DS:

  • The Hobbit is now a trilogy!

So for those that know me, know that I love all things fantasy and greek related. So I was going through my twitter feed and found out that The Hobbit (Prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy) is no longer just two movies but now a trilogy! I know that LOTR isn't for everyone but for fans like me it's awesome news. Peter Jackson announced on his Facebook that he will be expanding the original films into a trilogy as there is so much story to tell. "We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life," he wrote. "All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved 'yes.'" "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journet" is scheduled to be released December 14, 2012. http://www.thehobbit.com/index.html

  • Outlook.com

photo courtest of Outlook Blog (blogs.office.com) Sounds like another web address right? Well in this regard you would be correct. But it's more than that, Outlook.com is now the new web email service. Microsoft which was known for msn.com, hotmail.com, and live.com for personal email service, are now supplying the world with a new personal email service, outlook.com. For some this is not a big deal and for others, like me, it's pretty interesting and gets my geek blood boiling. Now no one likes to just up and change their email because of the domain, and for some of you, those that have a Microsoft account (i.e. hotmail, live, or msn) already, you don't have to. You only have to create an alias under your settings in your current account. There is also an option to switch to the Outlook.com view from within your current Live, MSN, or Hotmail account. The interface is crisp and clean, more simplified than what many personal email services offer. You also get access to Microsoft's SkyDrive which a cloud storage service that allows you to access documents from anywhere, enables you to send large files easier as well. Outlook.com also enables you to make use of the Microsoft web apps, you can edit and view Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote files from within your inbox. You can go to Outlook.com and sign up for a new address today.

  • The new MySpace: Overview

So I am sure that you have heard about the ressurection of MySpace, courtesy of Justin Timberlake. It has some of the old features of MySpace but some new ones as well. I logged in to poke around.... The website itself has undergone a major aesthetic overhaul, which may not be such a bad thing. When I left MySpace it was like the amateur's playground for horrible website design. But the look for the new MySpace is cleaner, more picture and visual based. The site scrolls horisontally instead of vertically. You also want to make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed. You can sign up with your Facebook account, your Twitter account or simply use your email address to get started. You can update your profile photo, and also your cover image, which unlike Facebook is is literally the entire webpage and not the header space behind your cover photo. It's similar to Twitter in that you can have people who you are connected to and those who are connected to you; so basically, people who you follow and those who follow you. There is also the option to have a profile song, but unlike old MySpace, it doesn't force you to listen to it as soon as you visit someone's page. Along with the revamp there is a music player at the bottom, that you can listen to no matter where you are on the site, you can build playlists and there is an option to listen to radio stations, kind of like Spotify. So it's like they've taken someone the features from each social media/music platform and they are now all in one place, but it is a decided leap from the old MySpace. So will you sign up for the New MySpace or are you over the whole thing? www.myspace.com

  • Windows Surface tablet update!

Photo courtesy of Microsoft With the upcoming release of Windows 8 on October 26th, Microsoft has finally set a release date for the highly anticipated Surface tablet. The tablet will be released on October 26th as well. The Surface will be Microsoft's first stab at the tablet market. But in my opinion it makes quite an impression. It boasts a built in kickstand to support hands free functionality, the Touch Cover also serves as a spill resistant keyboard, and it has full-size USB port, microSD card slot, and HD video out port. And did we mention that it comes with Office 2013 built in? I can't wait to get my hands on experience.

  • Technology Alert: Cobra Tag

Photo courtesy of CobraTag.com I know that we all have had those moments where we can't locate our smartphone, laptop, tablet or even the old faithful car/house keys. Well Cobra Tag is a device that is a device that will make sure that that doesn't happen. It's a small device the size of your car alarm remote that works with bluetooth technolgy to create a two-way separation alarm between your smarthone and your electronics. At a pricetag of $49.99 it's not a bad investment, I know quite a few people that have lost smartphones that cost a few hundred dollars more. Check out www.cobratag.com for more info and where you can purchase yours!

  • Apple OS X: Mountain Lion

Photo: Apple Apple's latest incarnation of their OS X operating system is here, and it's name is Mountain Lion. This was announced back in February but it is now available to install on your Mac (if you have one) and if you don't have one yet, this is the operating system you'll get when you purchase one. The upgrade is available from the App Store for $19.99, check out how to upgrade here Apple is continuously improving their operating systems, and this is no different, but I think one noticable change is that this OS is looking more and more like iOS. With the integration of apps into the operating system, which makes sharing content via social media easier. Check out the other integrated features: iMessage is now integrated into the OS, so now your messages from your iPad, and iPhone are available on your Mac and vice versa. Dictation, it's like having a secretary in your computer, if there's typing space you can dictate instead, and the more you use Dictation, the smarter it becomes. Facebook and Twitter are also integrated into the new OS, just like iOS. Apple boasts over 200 new features in Mountain Lion, you can read more here: Mountain Lion New Features

  • X-Box backpedals on Internet and used game policy

A little over a week after their big presentation at E3, Microsoft is already getting rid of it's policies on used games and constant internet connectivity. If you remember they were initially requiring that the Xbox connect back to the Xbox servers at least once every 24 hours or the gaming functionality would be disabled. They were also not allowing the playing of used/rented games, so no more sharing games with family. Well yesterday on the Xbox blog, Don Mattrick, the President of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, stated that there will not be a requirement to be connected to the internet if you are playing offline games. The Xbox One will function the same way the Xbox 360 does. Also noted that there will be no restrictions on using and sharing games. This was no doubt due to the backlash from angry Xbox users. Also noteworthy you will be able to download games from Xbox Live the same day that they are released. Source: Xbox Blog: Xbox Wire

  • Leaked photos of iPhone 5S and iPhone C

(Photo Credit: Sonnydickson.com)So unless you have been living under a rock you already now what time of the year is fast approaching, that's right time for a new iPhone. The rumored event is supposed to be on September 10th, but Apple hasn't confirmed that as of yet. They are expected to announce the iPhone 5S and the lower cost iPhone C. Check out the leaked photos above. Personally I think the iPhone 5C will help Apple gain back some of it's market share that it has lost to Android, but we will have to wait and see.
